About
CancerGene Connect was originally developed by UT Southwestern to run their genetic counseling program. It has been used to process over 10,000 patients to date, won the ACCC Innovator Award, and shows published time savings of 46% over the previous process. The typical process for a genetic counseling session is inefficient. Providers gather patient family and health history information in office and redundantly enter this information multiple times in separate systems to run risk assessments, create pedigrees, and generate family letters and fact sheets. By bringing all of these elements into one system and gathering patient information remotely and securely, UT Southwestern was able to double the amount of patients it could see with the same staff and at the same time improve the quality of the provider/patient interaction by taking the focus away from assessing risk to actually addressing the risk. We are excited to be currently on-boarding our first customers.
